It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
